i flew into Lizard island . . . . seeking word on crime conventions

. . and i needed a day bed.
i went straight to the Pavilion - a hotel with sweeping coral sea views.
If there was a crime convention on this island i was a potato cod - it was silent - breezy and oyster blue.

I drifted into a campari restbite.

A garish sound coming from the overhead bedroom fan had me awake in time for a sultry dusk. Fish innards were splattered about the room - there was the head of a royal cod incised upon a fan blade slowly dismembering as it spun.
Frank who ushered me to my room hadn't felt right - either way somebody was trying to move me on.

Lizard Island had more than eucalypt and acacia woodlands.

As i bagged the cod head i was troubled by the smell of cigarette smoke - normally i had convulsions at the scent but on this occasion survival took precedence. i went through a silky oak bi-fold door setup, into the pool and over the wet edge at speed.

As i lay silent in the heath and mini-paperbark swamp i saw what looked much like a lycra junkie in an adjacent window reflection rifling my belongings. This was obviousily a bad seed operating as an island bicycle enthusiast - perhaps this was his throw away kill suit.

I would need to cancel tomorrows DIVE class and maybe my GAMEFISHING TRIP - WAKE BOARDING RIDE - WATERSKIING - and Helicopter ride. -

Harold also had a severed super cod portion shoved in his mouth . . it appeared that he had gagged before partially decomposing in the sand dune . .
